Building Better Meetings Seminar
Spending too much unproductive time in meetings?
Looking for a comprehensive approach to planning and running better meetings?
Want an approach that works with all types of groups and work teams?
You've come to the right source. The Business Center's program, Building Better Meetings, takes a practical and comprehensive look at what makes meetings tick. BBM addresses not only how to set up and run a productive meeting, but also how to avoid problems and get back on track.
BBM is based upon proven techniques combined with the author's years of experience in facilitating task forces, work teams, committees, management team building, and training sessions. Don Barkman provides a down-to-earth guide to doing meetings right.
Building Better Meetings covers the four essential areas your groups need:
- Foundations: The basic meeting process, preparing agendas, how to reach a decision.
- Building Blocks: Member viewpoints, roles, good & bad behaviors.
- Mortar: Brainstorming, nominal grouping, force field analysis, problem solving, meeting management techniques, follow-thru & critique.
- Cracks: What goes wrong & how to handle it.
BBM uses easy to read explanations coupled with a Learning Log which helps participants absorb key ideas and relate the material to their meetings. This combination permits you to use the text as self-study material. You can assign the reading as independent study, use it as pre-reading prior to classroom work, or have participants read it in the classroom.
BBM includes a leader's guide which enables you to conduct the program in-house. The leader's guide contains directions for administering group discussions and exercises. You can even video tape exercises and replay them for instant learning!
You can conduct the program as a half-day session, split it into two sessions, or expand it to a full day by adding more exercises. Participants learn from the group interaction where they apply what they are learning. The one-page meeting manager is a great take home tool too!
